Happy Scrappy Friends – August 2016 – Play me a Song

Happy August everybody! The Summer holidays are in full swing and I am enjoying some weeks off! But I haven’t forgotten the Happy Scrappy Friends. This month it is a colour challenge with a very unusual colour combination: Purple, Green and Blue.

As I normally don’t have anything purple in my photos, I chose one with the two other colours and added purple to the layout.

The title is partly hand painted and alpha stickers – again with some purple watercolours (and some green). I also found some purple chipboard, enamel dots and twine – never used it before! Sort of glad I kept it in my stash for so long!

The pieces of ribbon are tucked underneath the layers and I also used a flame to stop them from coming apart at the ends. After I wrote down my journaling, I used the usual ink splatters to finish it off.

Do you also need to overcome your fear of purple? Then try our challenge!

Thank you so much for stopping by! You should have come from Cathleen, otherwise you can start here. If you would like to take part and share your creation, please post a comment at Happy Scrappy Friends with a link to your project. Your next stop is with Jana.

Happy Scrappy Friends – July 2016 – Beach under Construction

Beach under Construction - dapfniedesign - Happy Scrappy Friends - July 2016 - title

Happy July everybody! It is time for another Happy Scrappy Friends challenge. It is relatively easy this month – we challenge you to use your Washi tape, wood veneer and stamps. Ready, set, GO!
I used two of the photos I took back in March when the beach in Bournemouth turned more into a construction site than a normal beach. But as they were re-sanding the beach, it was totally OK of course!

I didn’t get over the top with my supplies, but I used all of the above: The Washi tape as a border (don’t you just love the Chevron style tape?) and two (because I couldn’t find a third one) wooden anchors to compliment the stamped anchors. I must say, I used a rather old stamp set by October Afternoon from their collection Seaside – it really needed to be used!Beach under Construction - dapfniedesign - Happy Scrappy Friends - July 2016 - close up

For the three focal points I stamped the anchor on a light blue, punched it out and glued it on a dark blue pinking circle. And as always, to finish it off, some sprinkles of dark blue and turquoise.

Does this month’s challenge sound like a good idea to you? Give it a go then!

Happy Scrappy Friends – June 2016 – 3 Ladies & a Bunch of Numbers and Flowers

signatur HSF 3 Ladies - dapfniedesign - HappyScrappyFriends June 2016 - title

Is it June already? Last month I was too busy to join in with the lovely Ladies from Happy Scrappy Friends team, but this month I am back on track for a new challenge! Today we would like you to use your die-cuts on your project. Let’s be honest here, everyone (well, every crafter/scrapbooker) has TONS of them! Now, bring them on!

You should have come from Dana, otherwise you can start here. Your next stop is with Dori. If you would like to take part and share your creation, please post a comment at Happy Scrappy Friends with a link to your project.

My layout tells the story about three Ladies – Lorraine, Cathy and I. We wrote our Maths GCSE together and met up to do some revision beforehand. I certainly had a lot of fun teaching again – I missed it since I last did it in Germany six years ago! Lorraine and Cathy gave me a bunch of roses and a gift card for NEXT to say thank you. They are so sweet!

In my layout I’ve gone wild with the numbers theme and a good variety of die-cuts: There is a chipboard frame and some chipboard letters, some acrylic numbers, number stickers and punched and die-cut circles and hearts. The three bigger hearts are a find from IKEA and their paper section 🙂

There are also the smaller die-cut numbers in soft pink and teal blue – I used some of my metal die-cut alphabets (by Quickutz, then Lifestyle Crafts – and then gone?) I nearly forgot I had lurking underneath my BigShot.

I also added some small, red numbers and added the date with this alphabet too. Some wood veneer found their way on there as well. As most of the time I finished it off with some sprinkles and small epoxy hearts.

I hope you like what you see and I gave you some inspiration to use a lot of die-cuts in your project. Thank you so much for stopping by! Your next stop is with Dori. And just in case you got a bit lost, here is the whole list of this month’s blog hop:

Happy Scrappy Friends – April 2016 – Layers of Light

Welcome to another challenge set by the Happy Scrappy Friends! Today we would like to see some fabric in your project and for me – being a papercrafter – this task actually had its challenges!

You should have come from Dana, otherwise you can start here. Your next stop is with Dori. If you would like to take part and share your creation, please post a comment at Happy Scrappy Friends with a link to your project.

In my fabric stash I found some strips I had left over from a quilt I once started (not finished yet, I know!). I stitched it together diagonally, cut it apart and layered it together again so it appears as a wonky strip. I sewed it behind a piece of cardstock and then developed the rest of the layout around it. It wasn’t easy to start with, having all those different patterned fabrics on one side! Then I was looking into my scrap basket to find some papers with softer patterns so the busy fabric strip would still stand out on this layout.Layers of Light - dapfniedesign - Happy Scrappy Friends April 2016 - close up 3

Where fabric is, there should be buttons as well, right? So don’t forget these on your project!Layers of Light - dapfniedesign - Happy Scrappy Friends April 2016 - close up 1

I really like my star border as well – it brings some of the blues from the photo on the layout (together with another piece of fabric I used as a layer like I would normally use paper!).

Happy Scrappy Friends – March 2016 – Final Road Trip

signatur HSF

It is the weekend – I hope you are celebrating it to the fullest! Today also is the 12th which means there is a new challenge up on the Happy Scrappy Friends blog. Today we are embracing Wood Veneer and Enamel Dots.

You should have come from Dana, otherwise you can start here. Your next stop is with Dori. If you want to take part and share your project, please post a comment at Happy Scrappy Friends with a link to your project.

Wood Veneer and Enamel Dots – both items can be found in my stash easily: Wood Veneer has been trendy for quite a while now. I used some feather shapes in this layout. My enamel dots are the perfect addition to this page as an embellishment. I also like to use them as bullet points for lists, which I did here as well.Final Road Trip - dapfniedesign - Happy Scrappy Friends March 2016

For my layout I used Marjan’s frequently used design – nine squares on a 12×12″ page. I needed something different to my normal “three photos in a row” design and with instagram sized photos you easily can do this design!Final Road Trip - dapfniedesign - Happy Scrappy Friends March 2016 - close up 1
